Tony Blair, the out-going British Prime Minister has been elected ten years ago on his famous 3 words - education, education, education.
Education has somehowly lost meaning or seen as not a priority in NEP these days. Times when educating a child was considered an investement for the future has now lost momentum. The obvious reason is that even those who had successfuy completed their secondary or university studies are jobless and cant fend for themselves let alone supporting their families. In a way you will feel sorry for those parents who had sacrificed a lot in order to educate their children who are now just loitering the streets because there is no job for them. To add insult to injury, the same parents may even be expected to pay for the younger lot who are now in secondary or primary schools. This sends serious negative messages to parents who will be saying "Comeon Timirti hoore aa dab lowaaye why pay for rising cost of education while its benefits is deteriorating by the hour?"
Something has to be done. Many children who are supposed to be in school are either in the playing fields or doing some naughty things like causing disturbances in the neighbourhoods.
I ask members to give their opinions on how we can send children back to school and convince parents who had lost interest and patience with education for their children. |
