Publication Date:15/10/09 By Shaffi Mansoor Duale Beloved brothers and sisters I greet you all in the name of almighty Allah. it is my pleasure to communicate with you once again. the controversy surrounding the kadhi's courts seemed to quel for some time but has yet again taken another notch.The controversy surrounding the Draft Constitution deepened yesterday after bishops engaged the document in yet another legal tussle. Having lost the first phase to enlisting Kadhi's courts in the controversial issues,The church has now moved to court seeking to expunge the Kadhi's courts from the draft . Their move comes only two days after a section of clerics attended the consensus-building meeting in Mombasa aimed at unlocking the current review stalemate. The churches have assembled a six-member legal team led by Mwaura Waihiga to battle it out in court. Their suit is set to commence in Nairobi before the end of the week. If they lose, the bishops have vowed to mobilise their followers to shoot down the draft at the national referendum which is expected to ratify the document.Wajiru lost once and is bound for another loss since the majority of christans and all the Muslims in the country fully support the age old Kadhi's courts.
