In an apparent reference to the on going Wajir South petition saga againI would like to call upon mr Dayow to withdraw from the case he started. I pray that someone will be able to counsel him that the most dignified, most selfless thing, the best thing he could do for a position he loves deeply not the place is to declare his decision not to take further part in vying for the area mp not now or in future since he is villiyfying our potential Wajir South mps in generations to come by rebuking the constituency and its people by tainting it with bad publicity in media . I for once would not be able to hold my head high if a person with such crudentials were to become my leader with no any community service record before. In my opinion its necessary for Dayow to apologise to honourable Olow since the honourable won that seat fair and square. Note, this is my own opinion and does not reflect any other persons, people or tribe whatsoever. ...............................................................................................................

Asalaam caleeykum. I hope you are all doing fair and square. Its being long since I googled into this blessed homepage but was pre-occupied probably doing something in national building.Mr Webmaster I am extremely excited and delighted with delirious to hear the wonderful SADAQATUL JAARIYA project you have initiated together with your diaspora colleagues. Everyone ought to know that it is not only our brothers & sisters in diaspora obligation but also ours here in Kenya. When I hear about fadisis and khamis i remember my early days in the only Duugsi of Bula Kibilaay famously known as duugsigi Maalin Ali where I first learnt the Arabic alphabet (Alifwaxmale) till I finished Juzuu cama then in mid 1988 it seized after the teacher relocated to Garissa.Good work brothers & sisters and lets make this project viable and feasible.
.................................................................................................................. (11) Publication Date: 20/05/08 By Darfur Son Asalamu aleikum. Once again am here saying the issue of petition in Wajir South should not disolve itself to enemity amongs the Southerners specially Bahsirey and Awayoon. We know very well 99% of petitions in this country end up in repository. If today Raila and Kibaki are dinning in the same table, who are Olow and Dayow and wat is the grudge back at the villages?. Lets see a head as elder brotha (MZ) and younger brother as (BG) to solve the current predicament at the ground. My opinion as i've said earlier in public before Dec. 2007 that we endorce Dayow come 2012 as Bahale's candidate. I beg a pardon if i've made any mistake. Thanks and good day. .............................................................................................................. (10) Publication Date: 14/05/08 By Darfur Son Manposh as pa my view I can suggest that according to the constitution of Kenya one is legible to acquire citizenship if he or she stays in Kenya for a period of 5 yrs so our brothers and sisters stayed in the camps from 1991 to date where thy have acquired voters card and IDS. Its not there first time to vote. Nevertheless Kenya is democratic state, unless one is like Hon. Ms Karua who said(2003) Somalis are refugees.
............................................................................................................... (9) Publication Date: 10/05/08 By Saadiya Mohamed Assalamu Aleikum guys. Hope all is well with you. From reliable source I am told that next week Wajir South seat will be announced vacant and people should get ready to go back to the box to vote once again. Thank you all

(8) DIRO BAQADA: There are 222 MPs all of them can not be Ministers or assistants. First of all NEP doesn't belong to one community. GSA got deputy Speaker, Defence Minister and 2 Assistants. Wajir East deserved to have Minister Mohamed Fai as he is ODM man who kick out the former Minister Mohamed Abdi unlike our MPs Olow and Affey who were Kibaki project because they chose wrong party PNU. ODM dominate the province. In 2002 elections, NEP elected 10 out of 11 their MPs on the struggling KANU. Wajir South still didn’t learn lesson. I hope in future elections, Insha-Allah we shall be in the right party. We deserve it.
(7) AMINA: first of all I congratulate all those who got a cabinet posts. Secondly for Wajir South people, I think your MP really did not deserve this post coz apparently he did not win fairly and the man has got some pending court issues so Mr Kibaki made it clear that he aren’t interested in Olow by not appointing him.
(6) DIRIR: Thank you Mr. Webmaster for your excellent way you posed this argument. I will like to mention few things which every one of us fails to understand in connection to our MPs left out. First of all this government may have considered several reasons: (a) That Wajir South had two Members of Parliament, for the first time in the history of NEP. (b) That the same constituency has Full Ambassador for the first time in the history of Wajir South. (c) That Raila's ODM had very good chance to give Ministerial Post rather Kibaki who appeared over-stretched. (d) I think if Hon Olow would raise himself out of the crowd he would have good chance to be rewarded to either Ministerial or assistant. This are my own personal views, they do not reflect or may reflect to the main cause.
(5) ABDIHAKIM ADAN AFFEY: Hmmmmmmmm some great minds reasoning. Watch here I go again. Just reading the posts of some guys attacking our MPs makes me happy. Why I say that? Keep reading and answer yourself. I for one never liked the idea of how we choose our MPs in Wajir South and I welcome anybody who will join me in eradicating the disease we have there. But some things are not really fair....whichever means the MPs used to earn the post, they deserve nothing less than a respect and help from us because this are our leaders whether we like it or not. They are the ones representing us now...FULL STOP. Maji yakimwagika hayazoleki...(although sometimes I think by-election will be good in Wajir South for some reasons..hehhehe) All in all....one thing we should all stand for is to get a ministerial post for our elected MP he is Wajir South MP for Gods sake...he deserves something and so are we... We have different ways of looking some things. But some things we have to look the same way and this is one of them...we deserve our right... and plz guys stop talking about how Olow manipulated the votes of Wajir South...he didnt. People voted for him(even if they are less at least people queued for him) otherwise he wouldn’t have been there. Gone by gone, lets face what is to come. And this other guy saying Affey stretched his bla bla bla....I didn’t even get....damn Affey played his cards well in politics and he earned his post...so lets face it and keep moving. Both our Mps deserve what they got. Maasalaam
(4) SHAFICII: Asalamu aleykm once again southerners. Thanks to ALMAIGHTY ALLAH for making us debate once again after election thought it could have been better we discuss immediately after polls because I knew many of you were giving us their outburst. I post some article after polls but I was denied publication, in that aspect I’m not in bad feeling with the moderator or any other executives in this site because I may provoke & since am not an angel I deserve to be corrected. On the issue of Wajir South without cabinet post here I will disagree with the fellows who are saying Olow don’t deserve but let me be realistic here by telling you what is the real reason. Well it’s was a political mistake taken by Hon Olow whereby he sidelined with Martha Karua for the post of deputy prime minister instead of his chairman Uhuru. When the two principles met Hon Olow name was on the list as minister for northern development but after a while they call Uhuru to update him on the list of Kanu guys in the new line up so in this case it was Uhuru who blocked him & there was luck for Hon Mohamed Fai who happen to be Hon Olow senior in Oxfam. So bro & sis that is the fact on the ground but we can ask ourselves what is the reason behind Olow proposing for Martha Karua instead of his chairman? Did he consult his supporters when he was doing so? For Hon Affey I guess he deserve too for the post, since some nominated MP were in the new line up but also him it wasn’t his luck & his luck died after nomination but still we have along way to go and we shouldn’t be so hurry for any post at this stage I’m sure there will be a reshuffle soon and our two leaders will be on the next line up so let us pray for them and greater southerners so that we see both of them be united and building our constituency in both hands. Thanks & guys no bad feelings.
(3) ABDIHAKIM ADAN AFFEY: Yes it seems kinda weird and unfair for our honorable MP not to get ministerial post. It's a big mistake done by the goverment. I'm thinking they underestimated the place and its people. It's our right to get a ministerial post. Lets turn the page for a bit..shall we? if u guys remember well...Wajir South had Assistant Ministers for many times and their work is less seen so maybe and I mean maybe this can be a new revolution for us to be without ministerial post....it might give the mp time to concentrate with his people alone. Back now! I still strongly feel that the goverment shall consider a post for us. We deserve and we have right for it. Hope our voices will be heard. InshaAllah.
(2) MOHAMED SHUKRI from Abakkorey: I may not agree with the term Wajir South is bleeding!. Its true that we dint got a ministerial post inspite of the fact that we have two mps who are serving for the second time at the same time in the current parliament, some were having high hopes that Affey may have been given the post of Dp PM and Olow as a minister, in the Contrary Maxamad Fai a first timer is flying the flag this leaves alot to be desired!! A simple analysis is that Affey couldn't be given a post because he flexed his muscle for the nominations and they were stretched beyond limit that he couldnt flex them any more. In the case of Olow, it was evident that he manipulated the votes in Wajir south and a case is pending to that effect, and ofcourse many believe that he is not having strong wings to fly the flag.
(1) ALI ABDI: Olow is not qualified to be an mp at. Therefore has no got to ask for a position in the cabinet. Kibaki knows him well becoz he hand picked him. Therefore there is no any justification for Olow to demand for a position and the man is grateful to Kibaki just like Affey is to Kilonzo. Publication Date: 19/03/08 By Jibril

Publication Date: 05/03/08 By Magan Hashim I have been quite keenly following the upcoming American election campaign ever since it started not because I am an 'Americana'' but specifically since Obama join the race. Seeing glittering pictures of him in my hometown Wajir and the outfit he had been dressed with makes me more supportive to this fine gentlemen. As a ploy to disqualify or discredit him wearing our somali tradition attire is a very uncommon job market. Does the media and Hillary’s camp forbid blacks for supporting this guy? Surely Hillary’s campaign strategist raise our eyebrows by showing how racially they seem all. One thought on Obama however, in my opinion he is the best qualified to heal the massive Bush created rift with the Muslim world that so effects as all. May the Wajir elders who file a case against her in court be a success. Assalam Alleykum. I'm really worried and concerned about the strike of Habaswein Secondry School students. This is not something good at all. Them giving the options of either the headmaster being transferred or them not going back to school seems weird. At the end of the day it's them who are loosing everything but it's very hard to explain to students what's good for them since majority of us have been to that stage before and we can understand what they are doing and why they are doing. I wanna request the Web master to keep us updating us about how that strike goes and the situation in general. I wish the students of Habswein school good luck. Web master it came to our attention that the puppet government of Kibaki has introduced a free secondary education just recently but many of us are still in dilemma on how this tremendous effort has been implemented in our province specifically Habaswein. I am not in Kenya currently but my younger brothers and sisters rely on me to pay their fees was jubilant and i am sure many parents share my view too when they heard on the news but many of us are being summoned with pile of fee structure''that we have.. to pay.how weird!! kindly web master could you give us a framework on how this so called 'free secondary education''works.secondly I am delighted with Mr Affeys nomination by his party. Surely this give more hope to Wajir South people. Let this two gentlemen join hands to better the lives of thousands in Wajir South and beyond. I suggest if the two honourables could innitiate an education trust fund for the under privilege children in our community will be appreciated by many parents. Electrification in Habaswein was a good move and a sign of hope but nevertheless our people need more and more honourables...I pray for a lasting peace in Kenya. I encourage those who favour peaceful political dialogue in our beloved country at this time of political turmoil. I specially congratulate my people from NEP by not resorting to violence in regard to the last years political dispute. In the interest of peace and progress which creates an element of safety, I give our NEP leaders bouquet for showing positive role model to their people. All is not normal in the province the food prices has escalated showing a clear indication that the violence in the country had direct effect on NEP as well. I specifically would like to appeal to NEP people to be humble and willing to accommodate the fleeing refugees from other parts of this country without humiliating them regardless of their ethnic or religious background. Let our province be seen as a beacon of hope to the displaced and destitute and not a dark region with no opportunities as it has been perceived by many in other parts of Kenya. Let the religious leaders be counted at this difficult times too. ..................................................................................................................

Who shall we turn to if not our elders? Mr Anwar I find it difficult to comprehend you article relating to the role of elders in our society. Will society let there knowledge and experience be left by the wayside? I guess NO. Dear Hon Olow, I join thousands of others who congratulate you on your decisive victory for Wajir South parliamentary seat and wish you a successful and productive term in office in this critical important post. I specifically would like to single out one area for special mention, namely poverty eradication which is the most potent reason debillitating development in our region. Publication Date: 02/01/08 By Nimo Ahmed Ogle. Khartoum. Education is one of the major priorities for the future of human development. It's a key development component in reducing poverty, promoting peace and transforming the society. Girls are disadvantaged when it comes to the education arena with regard to access, quality and learning achievement.
The traditional role of women in our society is that of a homemaker and child bearer. Women involvement in public life in general and in decision making in particular is limited. Gender stereotyping in all areas of life put men and boys in powerful, active roles and women and girls in less powerful roles. Boys' education is seen as more important than that of girls as boys are expected to mature into men who will provide for the family and make decision for the family and the society at large. In contrast girls from an early age are expected to take on household chores. In addition to that, feeding and healthcare practices are gender biased ensuring that boys medical care and other needs are met before those of girls. When resources are scarce and choices have to be made about family spending on education, girls tend to suffer more than boys do.
In conclusion, there is a lot that needs to be done when it comes to girls education and in order to promote it at all levels there must be an effective communication coz its vital in addressing the different barriers that girls face and in empowering their families to support them in their education. It will take time for this to happen but parents should give girls the chance to get educated just like boys because to educate a girl is like to educate the whole society ...............................................................................................................

Excellent is not an accomplishment, it is a spirit, a never ending process. The responsibility of a leader is to define reality, the last is to say thank you. The quality of good leadership, more than any factor determine the success and failure of a society. life is changing in Wajir South, growth is optional but most importantly choose wisely. The incumbent Olow has shown us willingness to to confront major obstacles by bringing service delivery into our doorsteps e.g. the new district and we're reeping the fruits. ...............................................................................................................

I know southerners can think 4 themselves but 4 those who complain or whinge about Olow around the clock negatively as the weakest link should truely get a life. I like Ibrahimrashid & mr Dagane but I owe them nothing and I think they just don't have what it takes to lead the people of Wajir South, rather than should continue to serve the community & this country under there current office capacity. ..............................................................................................................

Firstly, I would like to thank the webmaster for the extra-ordinary work he is doing. Secondly, I would like to respond to some guys who are using the site as a campaign tool to drum up support for candidates they say are favourites to win while tarnishing the others’ good reputation. Mind you, you don’t represent the views of the Wajir South voters and its high time you wait till the voice of the voters is heard on who is best suited to represent them in the tenth parliament instead of yelling so and so is the favourite. Wajir South needs a devoted and focussed mp who can make poverty, ignorance and marginalisation of the vast constituency a thing of the past. It also need one who can make us sail on the same boat with other Kenyans. I urge the voters to make a wise decision come December 27 and vote in leaders who can deliver what is stated above . A word of advice to kina Amina: lets please not score below the expectations of the webmaster by expressing our negative views that promote hatred between the different political camps but rather enhance healthy sober political debate and lastly congrats mr webmaster and more grease to your elbows. THANK YOU ALL.

We need an idealistic and thoughtful person, someone with great mind to bring rapid change in this distinguished district. I know back in my mind Olow has bit the odds, he has the charisma of great leader and has always seeked ways to share his gift & help others, this is being proven in his past records. His values just speaks for themselves. My cousins Ogles may not be on the race this time along but am sure many of them are endorsing Olow’s re-election. It’s nothing but a blessing in my opinion. Keep up Olow. ...............................................................................................................

By Mohamud A. Ali, Habaswein.
I wish to respond to Amina Hussein article of 25/11/07 in which she raised several issues on my recent article. On the onset I wish to make the following clarification:
[1] First I was making an analysis of the political situation in Wajir South and I had argued at the time that the absence of the Ogles this time round will affect the political situation in one way or the other. The Ogles were significant political force and shrewd grassroots campaigners and any body making a serious analysis will have to take this development into account. What will happen to their wide support base? Will their former supporters vote with the same passion and zeal? These are only part of the pertinent questions that need to be to asked. Not so for Amina who believes the place of the Ogles is a forgone conclusion and they don’t matter any more. According to her they were overtaken and done away with by the Affeys and subsequent other leaders who come, even including the weak link Olow. She forgot the senior Ogle (may God rest his soul in peace) was in the last general elections of 2002 where he pulled strong second to the surprise of everybody and against all poll predictions.
[2] Reading through your writings, I couldn’t help noticing you have double personality saying one thing one time and then completely the opposite the other time. You are master of double speak and double standard. Watch your take on me when you say I’m "clannish minded" without giving evidence and watch too what you write about this clan and that clan. Just cool down Habasweinians and by extension Wajir Southerners love one another.
[3] There is no limit our good Amina will not go in support for her candidate. She goes round digging all the dirt and blackening other leaders, she dismisses Ibrahimrashid and Hajir Ali Saleh as "good for nothings" who haven’t done any thing for their clans. Here again you are wrong for two reasons. First this were public servants and the ethics of their office couldn’t allow them to favour anybody and secondly unless it is typical Amina double standards why not ask the same of your Dr Arale whom we know has been a commissioner of the Kenya constitution group? Why not tell us what he has done?
[4] Amina’s sense of leadership qualities is at best confused and warped. She says of Hajir Ali Saleh, he is highly opinionated and "doesn’t change his mind" Aren’t this good qualities? Who wants leaders who will wobble under crisis and change their minds? But just hold on and just see how you cancel your own statement by saying Hajir is a "good administrator". Are not "good administrators" good leaders?
[5] Amina wont even bother collecting evidence on what she writes as she uses hearsays and passes them as facts. For example was it necessary for her to say that "I was told from reliable MZs that Ibrahimrashid ...." this is un substantiated and loose talk which she wants to pass it as a fact to the unsuspecting reader but please know some of your readers are more wiser than that.
[6] Even her claims that she supports Olow are superficial and half hearted. She claims Olow has done good work in the region and that he had united the clans of the region. At the same time she says he has sponsored his clans to the "dismay of others" I wonder how in her estimation this selective dispensation of public funds will bring unity of the people in the region on the contrary such a partial discrimination of the use of public funds are recipe for disunity and can bring inter clan feuds.
In summary my dear sister its is said "when you base your life on principles, 99 percent of all your decisions will already be made" have some principles and stand firm without flip-flopping here and there. Have a good day.

Assalam aleykum. I first and foremost wish to thank Mr Paul Abdilley for his good work in setting up this website. Then, I want to inform Mr Paul and all readers of this website that I have been introduced to recently about the reality in Wajir South and in particular us the Mohammed Zubeer. I am born and breed Wajir and has been following the politics of Wajir South since my cousin Abdullahi Bulale joined the race. Brothers, I am confused where boys or men like Hassan Bundid, Issa or Mama Nasir are getting their stories from.
To start with I believe many of the interested parties like Habshow, Ibrahimrashid, John Dubow, Abullahinur, Abdullahi Bulale, Ahmed Masaai all joined the race for the MZ race because they believed the office of an MP had many potentials but not because our Brother Olow under-performed. In fact all the people in the ground (including me who was until recently his opposer and for Bulale) agree that Mr Olow has done a fairly good job. Many schools have been upgraded, new classes built, new locations created specifically for the MZ, many dams/MASHIMA as we call it built and many more development. Brothers, although they say POLITICS AND DEEN are different, lets not forget we are Muslims and we should say the truth and we should not fabricate lies onto someone. Lets give the Devil his dues if he deserves. Many of the opposing camps like Habashow took contracts of up to 1.5 million, Ibrahimrashid took contracts for boreholes. Mohamed Haji Dagane did schools CDF for locations. so how can we accuse that Olow gave things to his cronies. lets remember many of the opposing camps were of the cronies until 3 months ago.
In reply to Mr Hassan Bundid, I think brother you are over exaggerating. so is Mr issa, Ibrahimrashid was never elected in preliminaries for ODM. No election happened even in Wajir town and Habaswein. it was a complete scam and that is why now even those of us who wanted to support ODM (including many sheikhs) have turned away. In response to the allegation that Olow has bought the Gudi of the MZ, I think you are very biased. The truth is that Ibrahimrashid gave money to some people and so was Olow hence please lets say the truth. the problem was there but the agreement was to go for the majority which many MZ decided to go with Olow. Infact, its untrue that all candidates supported Ibrahimrashid, I Was the campaign manager for mr Bulale and he never supported Ibrahimrashid. The truth is Habashow, Mohammed Haji Dagene, John Dubow and Abdullahinur went to the Guudi and say they would support Ibrahimrashid, Mr Bulale was not in Habaswein at the time. After a while, Abdullahinur said he was forced by his clans’ old men (Alinasir) and withdrew his support. I was present when this happened. The truth brothers is that some of this candidates just had some hatred for Olow but no LOVE FOR Ibrahimrashid and that is why they supported him. PURE TRUTH. IN addition, their is a rumour that candidates like Mohammed Haji Dagane and some few old men who were against Olow meet the Degodia minister Mohammed Abdi and were given money to campaign against him. At this junction many MZ's decided to support Olow for the minister was fighting him because of the Wajir South District creation. Brothers, the truth is that there is no 100% MZ support like 2002 this time for any candidate, however Mr olow has at least 70% support and this boys for Ibrahimrashid should better use their energy and time to do groundwork campaign for their candidate if they wish to see him in the august house rather than lie against their brother Olow. ...............................................................................................................

Well I think miss Amina is just wasting her time. The votes Ibrahimrashid got just spoked for itseslf coz he just deafeated his opponent Dr Arale by 3000 votes so that shows that Arale is the one that is running up and down with no majority. Well save your time into good things other than just going round and gathering some bad info about Ibrahimrashid coz it will give you no good outcome of it. Otherwise goodluck to your Dr Arale coz once a candidate is being defeated in the mlolongo then he is sure will be deafeated in the coming elections coz that is just the facts in Wajir South. Once the voters decided to vote for their favourite one then that how it is gonna be untill the end. Peace.

May I firstly congratulate our webmaster . Secondly, let me share my opinion with the rest of the Southerners. We all know during the selection of our candidate by the committees it did not work well since some of the members were bribed by Olow. The other contenders who where vying for the same post did not agree the shameful move and they decided to step down in favour for Ibrahimrashid. And they [HABASHOW, JOHN DUBOW OGLE, MOHAMED BASHIR, ABDULLAHI NUR, MOHAMED HAJI DAKANE and BULALE] were not fools when making their decision. Ibrahimrashid was proposed by his clan and his cousin Abdullahinur agreed with him. So stop going to family issues by saying Ibrahimrashid is not known by his families while they proposed him since they knew he will make it to the parliament CAME HELL,RAIN or SUNSHINE. The majority of Ogle family that you are talking about are also supporting Ibrahimrashid. Olow was very lucky when the MZ selected him in 19972002 where when he failed in the nomination [mlolongo] in 1997 he told his sub-clan members to vote for Affey instead of the late Ahmed Ogle. But the MZ did all they can AND supported him moraly and financially. Now he want 4 the third time where he is saying he want to become pensioner. We said NO to him and if he is above the MZ law then let him do it with his minority supporters like Shafici. Wish you all the best.

Asalam Aleykum my dear brothers and sisters. Once again I am back and I am indepted to thank the webmaster for his dilligent work. However, I am not happy how my honest and true article in response to the one written by Mohamud A. Ali has compelled some people to falsify a true situation in the ground (as I reported) in blind support for a Mr Ibrahimrashid.
My dears, mama Nasir, Swaleh and the rest supporting Mr Ibrahimrashid I honestly advise you that you are headed for a dead end. I have nothing personal against the fella. However, I have a duty to report the truth. This guy as reported by one of the guys in the forum has blackmailed his cousin (Mr Abdullahi S Kasim), has blackmailed the MZ committee by deciding to run alone and finally as confirmed by many MZ's has blackmailed the incumbent Mr Olow for he was his right hand man since 2002. Infact I understand that when the fella block his cousin in the sub clan level, many people believed it was a conspiracy by the incumbent Mr Olow and many named him as “Olow project“. Whatever the case us MKs did not evade his tricks, he blackmailed Dr Arale in the ODM nominations with the plot partly hatched by Mr Hajir A Salah and Nasir Arte who was the Election co-ordinator. Many people at the grass root level do not know him, do not identify with him and that is why many of us as Wajir southerners be it MK or MZ think he does not fit the bill and does not deserve the list of support. Two weeks ago, I was in Wajir and Habaswein and have witnessed the ground environment. Majority of the MZ's are backing MP Olow and while for us the MK we are inclined towards Dr Arale. The euphoria for ODM has died down due to the corruption created by Mr Ibrahimrashid I however wish him the best of luck.
Whatever the case you know as SOMALIS we would always wish to says we want OURS and for me I want Dr Arale but as I said before, if that is not possible for us the MK's no candidate is better than my teacher. you know what when my brothers and their friend like the famous Abdi Salah of Habaswein were growing up, they always walked like Olow (the academic angle). Today, I see that your MZ want Olow. That is my story and I hope it will go down well with akina Mohamud and Swaleh.

Assalamu Aleykum to the webmaster. Secondly I would like to tell all the youth who are saying bad things of Ibrahimrashid to stop with such false propagandas and should instead think of their future and studies and if they are working they should put more energy into their work so that they can be given promotions. If they want to be politicians in the coming future they should stop with this blaming and abusing candidates and they do something productive for their community coz they can make changes that they are talking of with or without being an mp coz if u are abusing an mp or.candidate for not doing something good for the community or not going to do something good for the community, lets us not put all the work into the mps for the current or for the future coz you as not an mp can be able to make something productive for the whole Wajir South people and not just for a certain tribe then that will be the time we can smile and stop accusing each other which is of no good to us. Thirdly I would like u all not to be abusing any candidates who are vying for the Wajir South seat coz u never know he might help u in the future and besides. without abusing them. I think the best thing is every person should instead write down his preferred candidate and why think that person they are supporting is good for the community instead of writing false abuses to your opponents which am sure you will never miss anything negative to say of them if you were told to say the whole day simply because he is not your preferred aspirant for the Wajir South. So let me start with myself and declare my support for Ibrahimrashid because of his vision and not because am from his tribe. No am not because am from Mukabal (MK) and I choose him as my mp just coz I like the way his group handled itself in a very orderly manner and with not promising things he knows is impossible to deliver. So I would not tell u to vote for the same man coz I believe everyone has his or her preferred candidate. That’s all and together we avoid enmity and am sure with this way of handling situations we will succeed and God willing have a prosperous Wajir South. Thank you all and I wish u all the best. Amin.

First of all let me thank the webmaster for his hard work. Secondly let me differ some few points my sister in Islam Amina mentioned concerning Ibrahimrashid. First of all Amina you mentioned that the late Noor Ogle gave Ibrahimrashid his former post as under Secretary. Well the fact of the matter is that late Noor Ogle died long before even Ibrahimrashid got the post so no one actually did him favours when it comes to his former work and he reached that level through hard work. Thirdly, if lets say Noor Ogle gave him the work as an under secretary, then how did he manage to rise to Deputy Permanent Secretary? Did the late Noor Ogle (MAY ALLAH HAVE PEACE ON HIM), arise from death and again appointed him the post? So dear sister stop having too much hatred for a man you barely know well. My last question is you mentioned that you don’t have any respect for hon. Olow and at the same time you are praising him. Well you cant be praising someone and at the same time not have respect for him. What have you done yourself for the people? Well I bet you are just sitting in Nairobi and you have got nothing better to do other than spreading negativity on people you barely know. So dear sis if you feel too much hatred for Ibrahimrashid then why don’t you add another hatred for him coz as my dear brother MR Saleh said he is gonna win whether you like it or not. And as I happen to be his supporter in Lehley there is no other name being mentioned than the respectable Ibrahimrashid. So good luck.

Shafici, I had said on numerous times reiterated that we cant open the forum for two reasons:
(1) there is a computer generated spam that keeps posting porn pics every ten seconds and cannot be stopped!!
(2) Few months back, I opened the forum so that anyone could post whatever they want BUT like in Old site of late brother Mohamed Sheikh (may God rest his soul in Jannah), some people had abused the site by posting articles insulting individuals and tribes. I promise to post all myself articles as long as it doesnt say disgusting and morally offensive, especially showing total disregard for other people. So no one need to worry.
NB: Point of Correction....It was not Amina who said that this election is odd as no member of Ogle family appearing on the ballot paper. That statement was said by another member who wrote from Habaswein.

Asalamu aleykm ladies & gentlemen 4rm plains of Qoone/Waso. Let me first of all give ma kuddos to the adm 4 da priceless job he has done. Secondly I would like to request da adm to open 4 us da discusion forum since every1 has got view to debate with da fellow southerners in this transitional time of election period & those in abroad could hav got a clear picture of what is happening on da ground.Thirdly goes to the fellow 4rm Sarif or Wajirbor/Argani/Ibrahim Ureey or what ever u call it. Man be a gentleman & dnt giv us ur outburst. AMINA has said what da reality is & that is what every dick tom & hurry knows about the fact on the ground. How can u call Ibrahim Rashid da son of da soil? When he is not even known by his own family members. On the other hand how can u say we Og were not popular in Wjr during those days? Loooool cajib, dont u know dat wjr south was da first parliamentary seat in whole Wjr & the late A.A.Ogle was the first honourable MP to be electe?, So if we were not popular by dat time how can it be we were given that chance? bro if u came recently from Ethiopia ama Kismayo dont dare to narate 4 us what u dnt know about history. If u could be a wise man I will just advice u to reread what our sis AMINA has just said. Lastly but not the least about Ibrahim Rashid we know him very well be it his past record & present record, of recenly every1 knows what he has done to his young cousin Abdullahinur Sheikh Kassim when he promised him not to vie the seat & yet changing his mind in the eleventh hour. what hatred has he hard 4 his young cousine? where all MZ were willing to vote 4 him. Anyway let me not go into this topic (hist of ibrahim rashid)deep. As our sis AMINA has said " this election look odd to many us as it's the first time in the history of the constituency, family of Ogle who dominated the political scene of Wajir South for the last forty years will not appear on the ballot boxes". So i believe this time round we chose wisely & hopefully next election we leave 4 da Ogle family. AMINA wallalo keep it up about ur update & never reply 4 this fellows who blindly supporting a loser. May I take this oppportunity to thank almighty Allah who gave us this golden opportunity and the web administrators. I like to say the fact pertaining the subjet of politics in Wajir South. Fastly politics doesn't belong to well educated people but belongs to anybody who can bring changes to our constituency and our newly formed district. I heard many opinions from our brothers and sisters, where everybody is trying to give his/her views. Since I'm in the grassroot now, let me convey what am forseing at the moment. We as the youth regardless of clans discused alot of issues concerning who will bring change. Every said his or her views at habaswein, we come to a decision where we said lets watch the moves of each and every aspirant. We need it and possibly the only group which are organised and focused is Ibrahim rashid, followed by general Ahmed Farah and Hajir Saleh respectively. Others are not serious. The technical advisors of hon Olow are not realy good people because they only want his money since they know he is very simple man. We concluded that let US [VOTE FOR IBRAHIM RASHID AND RAILA AS APRESIDENT]. Let me once more remind my sister Amina that Ibrahim was NOT was above the law at that time when he gave lands to Mandera people. As the fact of the matter is. We [OGADEN] were not popular in Wajir at that time as Degodia was more popular than us. But some of us who where there at that time like NUR BADAL FAMILY, ADAN AFFEY, ABDILLEY ALI OYOW, MOHAMED ABDILLE and many more got their lands so please this is just a propaganda which is normally used at this time of campagn. Also let me remind Amina Ahmed that Nairobi is not Wajir South. Come to the grassroots first. Second whether you like it or not Ibrahim rashid will make it since he is more bonified son of Wajir soil and he pleased each and every clan of Wajir South. Kudos Ibrahim for Ogaden youth. Others are trailers like Arale jumping up and down to every party, we are feed up tribal politics since am Arale's same family. Anyway all the best.

Firstly I wish to thank the administration of this website for giving us a platform where all wajir southerners can share their views.Secondly, I have been prompted to respond through this website by the article by a Mr Mohamud Ali supposedly of habaswein titled "Voting ideal candidate in Wajir South..." in which the writer blantly write his ecentric and clanistic view of the ideal candidate for wajir south. more so its absurd to note that a man who claims to be from habaswein (the land of scholars and democrats) can tarnish the name of our incumbent mp who so far has been the best mp produced by the mz clan and has previously served wajir southerners both as a teacher and an educationist.Although I personally believe the best MP in our long history is Mr Mohammed A Affey, I nevertheless have a lot of respect for Mr Oloo for the leadership he has shown and for his development record despite the fact that he was elected on a tribal platform of the MZ in 2002. I sadly noted in Mr Mohamud Ali article that he wrote " Firstly, this election look odd to many us as it's the first time in the history of the constituency, family of Ogle who dominated the political scene of Wajir South for the last forty years will not appear on the ballot boxes. It’s more even sad and melancholy that their political heritages has been up for grabs from little known men". I would like to ask mr Mohamud who the little known men are? We know that after the ogles Mr affey and Mr olow came through the ranks? are this the little known men? what about the ones you are praising in the article (i.e mr hajir salah and mr ibrahim rashid)? are they also among the little known men who are grapping the political heritage of the ogles?. Mr Mohamud, I sympathies if this is your view in todays 21st century because no matter their legacy the ogles have served there time and politics and power have moved on and will still move on. One day wajir south will have a second generation ogaden whose parents have come from somalia or ethiopia but born in habaswein as many cases are today. what will you call them then? little known men as usual?. get real and grow up man. the Ogles still have many honourable sons and when the time is right they will go for the race like anyone in the community. So stop your hallucinations about the ogles and be objective in participating in the political debate.Likewise, I noted that you are undermining the incubent while praising opponents who have been a liability to our tribes and clans like mr hajir salah and ibrahim rashid. This are men who have contributed little to even their own clans let alone their tribes or the bigger wajir south for all their career lifetime spanning over 40 years in the civil services. for the case of mr hajir who I happen to share the same clan with, he is good as an administrator rather than a politician. he is a man who never listens, volatile and does not compromise at all situations. he is a moi trained administrator and even at our clan level refused the oldmen verdict when asked to step a side for Dr Arale who so far is the most suited candidate for wajir south if the incubent goes this time round. For the case of your ibrahim rashid, I learnt from trustworthy MZ's that he was catapulted by the late noor ogle to the under secretary position and you are misleading when you say he achieved through qualification and hardwork. secondly I learnt that he never participated in community issues all his time in the civil services and has infact been a 'thorn in the skin' for many ogadens during his time at wajir county council as he forcely grabbed many ogadens people lands which he eventually sold to degodias and reer-mandera. I even gather that in some instances he locked up many ogaden oldmen who protested. so my question goes! what will they provide to wajir south at 60+ years that they couldnt provide at their youthful age? Before i wind up I would like to remind you that your brother (I guess you are an envious MZ) oloo has pulled all ogadens together during his tenure, has brought a new district (wajir south), has created many locations, has sponsored many students abroad (athough he gave mostly to MZ's to our dismay), and has dug many boreholes in wajir south. for my opinion If oloow goes, think its wise to elect Dr Arale (if affey isnt there) this time round for his education level, his charisma and for his political maturity rather than electing Mr hajir or Ibrahim rashid who have little grassroot support and have no solution for wajir south. In conclusion, I would like to mention that today wajir south needs young turks in the political leadership rather than retirees like hajir and ibrahim rashid and even the somali proverb says "REER UWAAD YAAR LEEH (LIKE WAJIR SOUTH) SAAC HAWIJA AAH LAGUMA SABOO". hope you got my point. I wish best of luck to my former teacher Mr oloow for his good work and wish him or Dr arale for wajir south.Thanks.

Publication Date: 21/11/07 By Mohamud Ali, Habaswein, Kenya.
The election time is here with us and as usual Wajir South which has been dubbed as the hot bed of North Eastern politics is once again promising to give a theatrical elections. As ever, many things have been happening, there have been new parliamentary candidates, some of them parachute candidates crowding the political scene and thus throwing analyses into confusion. For the poor masses at least, this is a harvest time for money they have long time been waiting for. For them the more the candidates the better price for their electors’ card. Sadly, no one can blame them.
This is a time when majority of masses take leave of their senses and ever present daily hunger, poverty and constant drought problem worries will put them in a situation to working themselves into frenzy for their candidates. Firstly, this election look odd to many us as it's the first time in the history of the constituency, family of Ogle who dominated the political scene of Wajir South for the last forty years will not appear on the ballot boxes. It’s more even sad and melancholy that their political heritages has been up for grabs from little known men. At least the election is also unique in its own other ways, the two main dominant clans of the region have not come up with any one candidate to represent them in the parliamentary seat, while this in itself sounds good for democracy and gives the people wide variety of leaders to choose from. It nevertheless portends a nightmare for the candidates who have to prove their mantle in the run up to clinch the top seat. This is what can be called free fall and survival for the fittest. Of course there will be money factors involved in peoples choices and the incumbent may have loads of it, but it’s not only money that wins elections on its own, it’s more to do with charisma, good vision for future prospects combined with sharp intellect qualities that endear people to their leader, something seriously missing in my eyes from the incumbent. There has also been serious omission on the incumbent on the use of the community development fund which some accuse him of misusing and giving to his cronies. Also there has been no development worth the name in terms of moving out people from poverty as majority of the constituents live below less than a dollar a day. The vast river Waso Nyiro is still underdeveloped, with its water table just 30 feet below soil. Recent studies have shown it has the potential of feeding not only the people of Wajir South but also of neighbouring districts. All is not lost, some things are still in our control like moving the Waso Nyiro River Development Authority from Garissa. Hussein Maendeleo owns the building which currently houses the authority where its benefiting him with large rent amounts. This project authority should be relocated to its rightful place which is Habaswein.
Meanwhile our hopes for better future remains with the new entrants such as Hajir Ali Salih and Ibrahim Rashid, two heavy weights on their own and certainly people to watch in this election . They have had illustrious careers in the civil service and have risen to highest offices in the land on their own merit and hard work. Hajir Ali Saleh become the first Kenyan Somali Provincial Commissioner in the North Eastern Province and brought lots of developments amongst which the highest is the total eradication of the Shifta menace and bringing about end to tribal wars in the region. Ibrahim Rashid Abdille has also risen to become deputy permanent secretary from a humble beginning of a treasurer in the county council in wajir in the early 80s. For me, I will be most happy to see any of these two prominent sons of the soil takes the coveted seat. Then, I would know in the back of my mind, at last Wajir South is in the right hands and all its developments needs will be taken care of.
A word of advise to the few who benefited from the incumbent MP: ask yourself how many millions you have given him to do the shoddy work he has done as an area MP and compare that to what he has given you back in developing the region.
To voters of Wajir South I say to you: Please make use of your voting rights by choosing visionary candidate. The time for block voting along clan lines is long gone. Bring in someone who has the potentials and proven records to do the work for us. Otherwise, we will always be crying foul and lag behind in everything.

It has make me start up when I hear about the disunity at home, I'm a student who is away from home and wish to see changes brought on the table of understanding. Generations came and went before us and are now part of history. But have you seen any noticeable development they have made, if at all any. There are many problems facing our people among them lack of respect for each others opinions and criticism of individuals instead of looking of our common goal. For sure we won't start winning without beginning and the first thing is to remove the gap between us which is tribalism.Hope to see our people united to catch up with the world.

East and west home is the best. We are very upset as students who are away from home when we hear clanism is overpowering democracy back home. I have several questions to ask anybody who can answer, when shall we say goodbye to disease (clanism)? Where are people who were educated? Did they join the the tradition which has left us there? No development and we are not waiting for it we continue this way. Inshaalah we looking forward to when politics will be based on who can lead the contistuency not by tribe but by merits advice to fellow home mates lets us according his ability................thanks

Wajir South is the largest constituency in North Eastern Province and third largest nationwide. It is nearly twice as the neighbouring Wajir West Constituency. Our constituency democracy walks a narrow path while clannism determines who takes the day. To my beliefs and experience the main cause of the failure of the democracy to our constituency was greatly played by our former mps who were irresponsible and manipulated the situation and divided the people, pitting one another. The mps has deceitfully taken advantage of the there powers, turning some parts of the constituency completely lower graded. Giving some good examples our former mp mr Affey has created deeper hatred between the mks and other three tribes in the region by giving all the government contracts in the constituency to his tribe, a broad studies to his tribe, joining too different local wards and locations together that his tribe doesn't live, he also forced some youths in the constituency not get the identity cards that was there rights confusing the governments that some places like Diif, Dadaja bulla and others in the border, are places where most refugees from Somalia are getting Ids from because his tribe doesn't live there. Come to Our immediate former mp mr Abdirahman instead of him changing the stile and taking advantage of the past mistakes he has seen in the former mps he continued the same and even worse for example, He manages the CDF as if its from his own pocket and some residence do not a wear of the existence of the CDF. The broad studies and the little work opportunities are for his clan. By his support and power, the government dug a borehole in Salema sub location near Diif division but unfortunately the borehole now belongs to his sub tribe and no other tribe including the other mz can access the borehole, He was planning to dig a borehole between Dadaj bula and The border of Somalia which is about ten kilometre and I believe with out doubts it will course a clash between the local tribes living their. It could have been wise to dig a borehole in the northern part of the constituency like Hambalash and it's surrounding where there are no boreholes at all and most residents are shifting from because of luck of water, more worse the area is becoming out of hand because some tribes that are not the owners of the constituency are taking advantage of the absence of the community and preparing to grow there roots eg Murules, marexan and Gare and Degodia.I believe if clannism were to take a holiday during the 10th General Election, the residents of our area would go for a leader who would help to improve security and other developments.
HOW TO OVERCOME THE CLANNISM (1) The youths of the constituency should form a joint association and educate the society as a whole and show there concern by going all the corners of the constituency. (2) Who so ever should be the next mp must unite the community, make fare distributions of the development he gets from the government and be friendly to all the communities in the constituency and if he does that he should be rewarded and re-elected by the community at large. (3) All the community elders and chiefs should also meet and settle their deference.
PROBLEMS FACING THE CONSTITUENCY Our constituency is experiencing the some of the worst environmental degradation in recent times because Somali refugees, living in camps in the neighbouring Lagdheera constituency in Garissa district, have descended on any vegetation cover, clearing it for fuel and building material for shelter. Residents would want the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to be held responsible for this situation.Like all remote constituencies, our constituency has no infrastructure. Roads are non-existent, electricity is a dream many residents do not expect to realise in their lifetime. What's more, water is as scarce as hen's teeth.People depend on water from shallow wells that often dry up almost as soon as they have been dug. Residents, who are mainly pastoralists, have to keep on the move in search of water and pasture for their animals. For this reason there are no permanent residences in our constituencyLittle is done in the health sector with frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases. Roads are bad and communication is generally absent. Drought is common in the constituency claiming whole herds of livestock.Unemployment is a common phenomenon. Our Wajir South has a potential for farming activities but constituents face frequent food insecurity. We need a leader with a vision to exploit farming as an alternative to pastoralism. The seasonal Lorein Swamp, experts say, has the potential to produce rice and wheat, a staple food for the residents. ...............................................................................................................

Thanks guys i op this is a very sober debate, but you are such one side guy.. Anyway i have an idea with lots of advice that most ogadens are disillusional and very confused, this same script is closely followed by MZs & mks, can these pple think? during previous election we thought they learnt a lessons but seemingly their memories are like that of worthdog.it has been balsam to my ears and spirit to see that my suspicions on the barbaric arrogance & ignorance of many pple is recognized by others. we are not amused and come dec 27th we will send MZs & MKs a very strong signal that wajir south belongs to 4 ethnic clans nd anyone can lead provided they have a shared vision and capacity to do so.no one hates the other but this 4 MKs and MZs, if you make pple to do that by being selfish, tribalistic, greedy, grabbish and don’t change i bet you see a very precarious situation for this community, they may be following the footsteps of igbo pple of Nigeria who have been shut out of Nigerian leadership for the last 30 yrs. Brothers & Sisters think about this seriously its a reality!, thank you. ...............................................................................................................

Thank you for sharing your opinion with us. Once again, I assure Mr Mohamud and those who share his feelings that this website SUPPORTS or DERAILS no individual person or group. Please bring evidence to the table before labelling accusations on hard working people who from their own pockets funded the construction of this magnificent website for the betterment of Wajirians. We had asked and invited everyone from the district to contribute their views and news from the region. No one has so far helped us on that and statistics shows that an average of 60 people visit the site daily. Most of the visitors are out looking for who said what on who. We know too from past sites that there are more people interested into threading insults to each other and often use bad languages than there are of descent people with constructive arguments. It's really unfortunate but it's a fact. We do our best in reporting the news of region as correctly as possible and where that is not the case, we stand to be corrected.

Once again the website administrator has fallen short of our expectation just immediately after he was accused of alarming pro Olow headlines, which surprisingly don’t even reflect the situation on the ground pointed by some of the esteemed readers , he is now coming up with pro government headlines by stating that the rural electrification project is in high gear in Habaswein, the administrator has fallen sleep on the job again and he should have at least analysed the actions of the government in its latest move , it doesn’t require one to be rocket scientist to find that the government actions are political gimmicks meant at hoodwinking the people in to electing them, in an election time where survival of the government is a stake from ODM wave, we have been here before where earth moving plants and engineers were brought in areas where by elections were held in the past and the government had interest and as soon as the election was over the work stopped and the big earth moving plants returned to their bases ,we know the PNU is throwing all it can to survive but this actions some of them coming on the eve of competitive election period is really going to be its own undoing as people are able to think on their own and separate the maize from the shaft and vote with their hearts - Kibaki government like Olow are bound to fail and yes even the administrator by his thinly veiled attempt to support them will also fail with them. |
